How to increase the mileage of your old bike with some changes by mechanic adda

How can I increase to average of my bike, what should be changed

‌✓Air filter to be replaced



✓Spark plug to be cleaned and specified gap to be ascertained. The Iridium plug gives better spark hence better fuel ignition resulting in complete combustion leading to marginal increase of fuel efficiency. But it will cost around ₹500



✓If gear box oil has not been replaced, replace it with specified lubricant. Higher viscosity will cause hindrance to movement of piston.



✓Inflatatoin of the tyre to specified pressure (+2 % is better)

✓If tyre is bald replace it. tyre slip would waste the fuel)



✓Check if brake pad is not rubbing the drum.

✓Do not accelerate unnecessarily. Accelerate gradually.

✓Use correct gear for correct speed. If the speed is lower, jerking will create aberrations on cylinder surface, leading to compression loss

✓use brake prudentially. reduce the accelerator in advance when you see hindrance, including hump.

✓Avoid half clutch. (in car I bring the gear to neutral and when I have to move I will see the speed and push the gear to appropriate gear. But that is not possible in the bikes). In Royal enfield there is neutral between first and second gear. This will give the possiblity of toggling between gears in inching traffic. Half clutch will smoothen the clutch facing, hence loss of friction



✓If there is wind screen fitted remove it. Aerodynamics will affect the mileage.



✓If the vehicle has run more than 1.5 lakh, get the engine compression checked.

✓Fill the fuel for odd amount ( if the amount ends with zero, there is possibility of tampering the software

✓Fill the fuel preferably in the morning, as the density of fuel filled will be higher.
